National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has criticised the newly elected Kiambaa MP John Njuguna Wanjiku for missing a Parliamentary session where an important motion requiring him to be present was supposed to be approved.
Speaking during a house session, Speaker Muturi declined to put a question on a motion in which Kiambaa constituency CDF nominees to the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) were supposed to be approved.
According to the Speaker, he will not carry on with the motion until the MP attends a Parliamentary session.

"I will not put the question until the member is here so that he understands. You know he just came here to Parliament the other day. So these bad manners of coming in and going away. He thinks that this is going to be the streets, I will differ that to tomorrow. It does not come, the question will not be put," he said
Reports indicate that this is the fourth time in a row that the speaker is suspending the approval of the nominees because of the absence of the MP.
An agitated Muturi, called on MPs to direct the new colleague on how the business of the house is transacted even as he warned of postponing the motion to next year, an act that would to its collapse.
"It is him who should be at the forefront in ensuring that his committee members are approved. Why should other members be the ones to approve his nominees? The young man should be taught things.
"He risks the motion being differed to next year and it may have to suffer as others which may have to die a natural death. Let the man be told that the business is transacted in the house, not in the village," he added.
Wanjiku was elected into office during a by-election in July 2021.
The by-election followed the death of his predecessor MP Paul Koinange.
