Babu said it is Raila's time to be President perhaps insinuating that the 2022 presidential poll is as good as sealed for the ODM leader

Emabakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino now wants Chief Justice Martha Koome to swear in the ODM leader Raila Odinga even before the 2022 elections.

In a statement on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, December 8, the controversial MP said it is Raila's time to be President perhaps insinuating that the 2022 presidential poll is as good as sealed for the ODM leader.

"I’m humbly requesting the Chief Justice of Kenya Martha Koome to swear in Baba in advance as the 5th President of Kenya as we wait for elections next year. It's time.Baba President Ruto Resident," he said.

His proclamations come just two days before the ODM leader's major event scheduled for Friday, December 10, at Kasarani stadium.

Raila is expected to announce his presidential bid on the aforesaid date with at most 60,000 people expected to grace the event.

According to Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who is acting as a link between the organizing committee and Raila's office, about 200 MPs, over 40 senators and governors are expected to attend the event.

The event is a culmination of the Azimio La Umoja press conferences held across the country where the ODM leader was endorsed to vie for the Presidency.

Raila has been deemed favourite for the top seat by President Uhuru Kenyatta who he reconciled with through the much famed March 2018 Handshake.

The Handshake deal saw the ODM leader enjoy the trappings of power with Deputy President William Ruto appearing pushed on the periphery.
