The German Embassy in Kenya and AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, launched the “Roadmap to e Mobility Kenya."
Speaking during the event held at Hotel Parkinn Radisson, German Deputy Ambassador Thomas Wimmer said: "This newly announced roadmap indicates that Kenya is ready for a structured and well-planned transition to e-Mobility.
Mr. Wimmer added, "Kenya has indeed been a pioneer in the energy sector, and has achieved over 90% of its energy generation mix from renewable energy sources. We expect that Kenya will once again be a leader in the field of e-mobility, and that this Roadmap will provide the impetus to make this a reality."
Speaking during the event, Country Director at AHK Services Eastern Africa Maren Diale Schellschmidt mentioned that there was no overarching framework galvanizing the activities and strategies in accelerating e-Mobility
“Despite the regulatory, technological developments and demonstrated goodwill from the government, there is no overarching framework galvanizing the activities and strategies of the sector’s players in accelerating e-Mobility.
"The Embassy and we have commissioned this high-level landscape assessment as a knowledge base and precursor to accelerating the uptake of e-Mobility applications in Kenya in response to this reality”, Mr. Schellschmidt stated.

The event was graced by Hon. Mohamed Elmi— Cabinet Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forestry, Dr. Eng. Joseph K. Njoroge — Principal Secretary, State Department for Transport at the Ministry of Transport, Eng. Isaac Kiva — Secretary for Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Thomas Wimmer – Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya and Maren Diale-Schellschmidt – Delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa.
