Six bodies have been retrieved from a building that collapsed in Gatanga, Murang'a County.

The four-storey building collapsed on Friday and about 10 people were feared trapped under it.

In the latest update by Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary, James Macharia, one more person had died while undergoing treatment bringing the number of deaths to six.

Three people who worked at the site are yet to found even as rescue operations continue.

The CS said authorities are looking for all the people involved in construction of the building and that they face the full wrath of the law.

He noted that DCI has already started a search party for them.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has already started the process of hunting down all the professionals concerned both at the National government and at the county level,” said CS Macharia.

According to Murang’a County Police Commander Donatha Kiplangat a multi-agency team was dispatched minutes after the building came tumbling down on Friday.

The rescue team included the Police, Medics, and Fire brigadiers drawn from Murang'a and the Neighboring Kiambu County.

Six people were rescued and rushed to hospital.
