The Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has announced a raft of measures deployed to enhance the security of Kenyans during this festive season.

In a press statement on Monday, December 20, the IG noted that the police service is well prepared to ensure the safety of Kenyans and forestall security threats.

IG mutyambai said a multi-sectoral approach has been deployed to ensure law and order is maintained.

He added that 3000 prison officers will be deployed to help with the maintenance of security.

"In anticipation of the increasing movement of people across the country, we have embraced the multi-sectoral policing approach and put in place measures to maintain law and order.

"I appreciate the gesture by the Commissioner-General of Prisons Service for augmenting our strength with an additional three thousand prison officers," he said.

IG Mutyambai has also directed that all police officers who are on leave to resume duty with immediate effect.

He has urged Kenyans to be on high alert and volunteer necessary information to the police that will help in averting security threats across the country.
