"On 24th to 25th, we're closing the streets in Kisumu. The governor is opening the street for a Christmas party. We have listed 24 restaurants, 11 wine sellers…and we have 4 musicians and a children's playing area. We're welcoming all the residents of Kisumu for the street bash, Hollywood-style," said Wanga.

Kenyans have geared up for the festivities, with most city dwellers traveling upcountry to share the moment with their families.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has reassured Kenyans of their safety during the festive season.

He further revealed that the 3000 prisons officers would be deployed as special police officers to help beef up the security across the country.

"The service has deployed adequate security personnel and enhanced patrols to forestall any security threats. I appreciate the gesture by the Commissioner-General Prisons Service for augmenting our strength with an additional three thousand prison officers," Mutyambai stated.

On the other hand, the Government Spokesperson has called upon Kenyans traveling using public transport to speak up to rogue drivers as their lives were much meaningful.

“Your life is of utmost importance. Please speak up when the vehicles you are traveling in are driven recklessly. Why are we silent when drivers are reckless? Don’t risk your lives over carelessness,” Oguna appealed.
