Deputy President William Ruto is the latest Kenyan leader to congratulate U.S. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

In a statement, Ruto stated that the duo's historic win is a true testimony that people's voice matters.

"Congratulations U.S. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris for making history. The highest popular vote ever and the first woman vice president. Your win confirms our faith in democracy and the supremacy of the people. The global community who believe in democracy celebrate and share in your success," said Ruto.

Biden and Harris won both the electoral and popular votes in the November 3rd elections.

Biden had clinched 279 electoral votes with 74,051,261 in popular with incumbent Donald Trump trailing by press time.

However, Trump has not conceded defeat stating that the polls were rigged in favor of the Democratic challenger.

Earlier on, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga had congratulated both Biden and Harris.

President Kenyatta said Biden is a friend of Kenya whose last visit to the country while serving as Vice President under President Barack Obama helped renew Kenya-USA ties.

"President-Elect Joe Biden is a friend of our country who has visited us in the past and helped in strengthening the strong ties that exist between the United States of America and us.

President Uhuru wished Biden good health, a smooth transition, and pledged Kenya's continued solidarity with the United States of America in the future.

Furthermore, President Uhuru hailed Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris as a trailblazer and role model whose win will help inspire millions of young girls worldwide to chase and achieve their dreams of greatness and success.

He thanked President Donald Trump for working closely with Kenya.
