A maize store collapsed in Kitale Matisi, Trans Nzoia County, on Tuesday, December 28, trapping an unconfirmed number of workers in the ruby.
According to reports, rescue operations had been dispatched at the scene, with several workers being rescued and rushed to Kitale County Referral Hospital.
So far, no information has been made public on the state of the collapsed store but awaiting further details from administration authorities.
This comes days after a four-story building that was under construction has collapsed at the Makeji area in Gatanga, Murang’a County.
According to Murang’a County Police Commander Donatha Kiplangat, a multi-agency team was dispatched minutes after the building came tumbling down on Friday.
Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia had updated Kenyans that the building led to one more person dying while undergoing treatment, bringing deaths to six.
The CS stated that authorities were looking for all the people involved in the construction of the building and that they faced the full wrath of the law.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has already started the process of hunting down all the professionals concerned both at the National government and at the county level,” said CS Macharia.
