Magoha stated that the minister had received intelligence that some teachers across the country are peddling fake examination papers in the name of leakage.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has dismissed claims of cheating ahead of the upcoming national primary and secondary school examinations.

Speaking to National School Heads on Thursday, December 30, 2021, the CS assured them that the exams are secure and will only be accessed by students on the dates of the examinations.

Magoha stated that the minister had received intelligence that some teachers across the country are peddling fake examination papers in the name of leakage.

He pointed out the South Nyanza and Kisii regions as hotbeds of exam cheating.

The CS stated that some teachers from these regions are notorious for distributing examination leakages immediately after the papers leave the containers.

Magoha assured the school heads that funds will be distributed to the schools in time for the reopening of schools for the third term.

He reiterated his support for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) claiming that it is being frustrated by the courts.

He exuded confidence that the education system will be implemented and urged education stakeholders to support and defend it.

“It looks like the courts are being used to stop you. And who said the judge is Jesus Christ? I am not afraid to stand before the court. As a scholar, you must do what is right as far as CBC is concerned,” Magoha said

“I do not expect you to accept CBC wholesomely without giving an intellectual opinion. When we are scholars, we can never agree on everything; if scholars agree on everything, either one of them is stupid or one is not telling the truth because if you are thinking you must differ,” he added.

He portrayed CBC as the future of the country’s education, hinting that it may be the ultimate solution for curbing schools unrest.

“By the time we have CBC children in High school, I want to tell you, no school would be burned because we would have offered these children proper root from the ground,” Magoha explained.
