Matiang'i ordered the curfew in select areas of Lamu County citing incidences of criminal attacks that have led to loss of life

Interior CS Fred Matiangi has declared some parts of Lamu County as disturbed areas and ordered a dusk-to-dawn curfew for 30 days. 

In a press release, the CS announced that the curfew will be effective starting today Wednesday January 5, 2022. 

Matiang'i ordered the curfew in select areas of Lamu County citing incidences of criminal attacks that have led to loss of life. 

The CS noted that the loss of seven innocent lives have been reported in Widho Sub-location in the recent past, adding that the National Security Council (NSC) has directed the deployment of a multi-agency security team. 

The security team is mandated to mop-up illegal firearms and activities from the affected areas.
