The statements come days after she ditched DP Ruto's UDA party and announced she will vie for governorship on an independent ticket.

Days after ditching the UDA party and announcing that she will vie for Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat on an independent ticket, MP Purity Wangui Ngirici has launched an onslaught against Deputy President William Ruto.

In a move that signals her new political side, the MP penned a message approving the mission of a section of leaders from the region ostensibly to warn the DP from claiming he represents the interests of the region.

This was backed by her remarks that the region's interests cannot be dictated upon by outsiders, a statement that in all appearances targets the DP.

"The interests of Mount Kenya can't be dictated by outsiders. It's only through partnerships and the election of independent-minded leaders that Mount Kenya will benefit," she said.

In his several rallies in the Mt Kenya region, the DP has maintained that he has the interest of the region at heart, so much so, that his allies have assured residents that their interests are only safe with the DP.

Ngirici has, however, dismissed the narrative and backed a group of Mt Kenya leaders who appear opposed to the DP's view on parties.

Ngirici sow says the leaders represent the real interests of the region telling off the DP and his allies for labelling them as tribal.

"We as the mountain might produce a Deputy President but we can only be sure that he/she shall be respected if we have a formidable coalition.

"This is the voice equally being echoed by H.E William Kabogo, Hon. Mwangi Kiunjuri, Hon. Martha Karua , H.E Kiraitu Murungi and Hon. Moses Kuria who have political parties that some quarters are referring to as tribal arrangements," she added.

The Kirinyaga Woman rep further added that though the region will unlikely produce a president in 2022 polls, they have numbers to determine the president.
