Details have emerged revealing why Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi caused drama at the Wilson Airport on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, while in the company of a former Tanzanian Minister and a wealthy British colleague.

The Nation on Friday, January 7, reported that the lawmaker had attempted to use the VIP lounge at the airport without having his bag and those of Briton Michael Spencer and former Tanzanian Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Lazaro Nyalandu checked.

It is, however, unclear what the two foreigners are doing in the country.

In November 2020, Nyalandu who was a Minister in the Jakaya Kikwete regime was blocked by the Tanzanian government from entering Kenya on suspicion that he might be seeking asylum.

According to the Nation, Spencer is a financial broker, politician and investor with vast business interests cutting across various sectors including; hospitality, aviation, deep-sea fishing and horse breeding.

Sudi had flown to Eldoret on Tuesday, January 4, where together with Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, they addressed a conference, urging members of the public to support Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid ahead of his mega rally on Saturday, January 8.

Upon returning to Nairobi, the lawmaker is said to have allegedly refused to follow airport protocols insisting that he uses VIP lounge instead of using the domestic arrivals section like other passengers.

Reports indicate that Sudi and his entourage had a standoff with the security officers for several minutes but eventually agreed to follow the due protocols after realising he was running late for the National Assembly special sitting on the Political Parties Amendments Bill 2021.

Sudi was last involved in a similar scenario when Turkish businessman Harun Aydin was barred from travelling to Uganda with Deputy President William Ruto's team.

He was arrested and later deported.
