President Uhuru was scheduled to meet handshake MPs for talks at the State House this Thursday.

Nominated MP Millicent Omanga has weighed in on President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting with a section of MPs allied to him and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In a tweet, the MP said leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been sidelined from the meeting adding that it is because of their political affiliation.

"Pro-handshake MPs have been invited by the president for luncheon at State House today. Sisi hustlers tumeambiwa kila mtoto acheze kwa mlango yao. As for the agenda of the meeting, your guess is in sync with mine," the MP said.

Media reports indicated that the President was scheduled to meet handshake MPs for talks at the State House this Thursday.

The meeting comes several months after the President called for talks with legislators.

The agenda of the meeting was however not made public.

With the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021, becoming a subject of discussion among political players in the country currently, it is expected that the Head of State will woo Senators to support the Bill wholeheartedly.

The Bill sailed through Parliament and was presented to the Senate early this week.

The Senate handed the Bill to Justice and Legal Affairs Committee who were tasked with carrying out public participation.

The Bill has been opposed by allies of the DP who are also set to derail its passing at the Senate by lining multiple amendments to dilute the bill.

If a single amendment, that they will suggest, on the Bill goes through at the Senate, it will be taken back to the National Assembly for further debate and approval.
