Senator Mutula emerged the best with an approval rating of 66.4%.  Murkomen was second with 58.8%

A new poll conducted by Infotrak has ranked Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr as the best performing senator in the country.

Senator Mutula emerged the best with an approval rating of 66.4%.

He was closely followed by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who garnered an approval rating of 58.8%.

In third place is Samburu's Stephen Lelegwe with an approval rating of 57.2%.

It is important to note that all the three senators were part of a group of legislators that opposed the proposed county revenue division formula.

The senators formed a group called ‘Team Kenya’ and forced the government into consensus regarding the revenue sharing formula.

At one point, Senator Lelegwe and his Kakamega and Bomet counterparts were arrested, with the Team Kenya legislators claiming that the arrest was meant to block them from voting in the crucial revenue formula debate.

Best performing governors

Meanwhile, a poll conducted in October by the same company ranked Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as the best performing county chief in the country.

Oparanya emerged top with an approval rating of 82.3 per cent, followed by Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya (77.1 per cent), Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana (74.4 per cent), and Kisumu’s Anyang’ Nyong’o (65.9 per cent.)
