Odhiambo urged the two agencies to make peace with each other failure to which Kenyans will continue suffering in the hands of criminals.

Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo has blamed the increased cases of unresolved murder cases to supremacy battles pitting Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji.

Speaking to the press outside Parliament, the lawmaker blasted the two for failing to probe the mystery of bodies retrieved from River Yala.

Odhiambo singled out failure to probe the retrieval of the bodies amid claims that the victims are tortured to death before their bodies are dumped at the river.

The MP argued that the frosty relationship between DCI Kinoti and DPP Haji is a security threat across the country.

"It hurts that the endless tug of war between the DCI and DPP which I believe this is what has been impeding investigations," Odhiambo told the press.

Odhiambo urged the two agencies to make peace with each other failure to which Kenyans will continue suffering at the hands of criminals.

"It’s high time the two agencies shelved their personal differences and put their best foot forward in the interest of the country

"I am afraid if this issue is not looked into as a matter of urgency, they will be a rise in body dumping cases," he stated.

The statement came moments after a Yala Hospital Mortuary said it was overwhelmed by the influx of bodies picked from the river.

In a statement to the OCPD in Gem, the devolved unit said any more unclaimed bodies should be sent to Siaya Referral Hospital Mortuary or any other public morgue before the situation eases at Yala.

"During this period, the remaining spaces in Yala Sub-County Hospital Mortuary will be reserved for regular services," the statement read in part.
