Three Daring Men Charged For Breaking Into General Badi's Office

Three people have been arraigned before a Nairobi court for breaking into Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General Mohammed Badi's office. 

The suspects, Benson Musyoka Ikii, Cyrus Elijah Mwanzia, and Benjamin Munyoki, were accused of burglary and stealing pens and papers worth Ksh 342,000 from Badi’s KICC offices.

The three are believed to be part of a gang, with police officers initiating a search for the remaining suspects. 

According to the prosecution, the stationery was packed in 26 cartons, which contained 400 pieces of pens and photocopy papers. 

Police were notified about the break-in by an NMS official who raised the alarm. Before police arrived at the scene, NMS officials apprehended the three, with the remaining members of the gang escaping. 

NMS employees stated that they found the store doors open, with padlocks broken, and the room ransacked. 

Munyoki managed to escape with the other gang members but was traced to a building in Nairobi CBD where police recovered four reams of photocopy papers. 

Munyoki, Mwanzia, and Musyoka denied the charges labeled against them and were released on Ksh 100,000 cash bail or Ksh 200,000 bond.

The case will be heard on November 3rd at the Milimani Law Courts. 

It is not clear what motivated the gang to break into the offices. The break comes in the wake of continued feuding between Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Badi.

 According to Sonko, the NMS is a fraud scheme that does not serve Nairobians appropriately.

Sonko has cited garbage collection as one of NMS failures in the recent past.

However, according to Badi, Sonko is using goons to sabotage garbage collection in the city. 

Sonko made the allegation after uncollected garbage heaps were spotted in Eastland's sides of the city.
