  • CS Mutahi Kagwe confirms 1,216 new Covid-19 cases
  • The total caseload now stands at 65,804.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe confirmed 1,216 new Covid-19 cases from 6,816 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 65,804.

At the same time, Kenya reported 26 deaths in the last 24 hours bring the death toll to 1,180.

Kenya announced 531 more recoveries bringing the total to 43,626. CS Kagwe said 382 were on home-based care and 149 in various hospitals.

In terms of gender, 726 are males while 490 are female. The youngest case involves an 11-month old infant while the oldest is aged 99 years.

There are 2,148 healthcare workers who tested positive for the virus. Of these, 1,087 are males and 1,061 are female.

Unfortunately, 23 healthcare workers had lost their lives since the pandemic struck. 

A total of 1,289 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,960 are on Home Based Isolation care.

57 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 18 of whom are on ventilatory support and 34 on supplemental oxygen.

The statement by CS Kagwe stated that 86 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 68 are in the general wards while 18 are in the High Dependency Unit.
