A Form Two student at Ndarawetta Girls’ Secondary School in Bomet County is dead after she jumped off the rooftop of a classroom on the morning of Thursday, February 3, 2022.

The deceased's body was discovered by her colleagues who were going to class for the morning preps. They immediately alerted the school's administration.

A report was filed at a nearby police station who responded to the scene.

Bomet central sub-County police Commander Musa Imamai led officers to the scene where investigations have since began.

The police boss revealed that the student may have been depressed and had lost hope in living as she had left behind a suicide note.

According to Imamai, the deceased may have waited for her colleagues to go to sleep the previous night before she stayed behind and took her life.

“Our investigation shows that she was disturbed... We found a note inside the locker in her classroom stating that she wanted to meet her God. She also wished her parents and family the best in life,” he said.

He urged parents and guardians to constantly offer advice and guidance to their children.

“Let us be close to these children whether in school or at home so that such incidents can be prevented,” he said.

Her body was moved to Longisa referral hospital.
