Jubilee party has announced that it will not field a presidential candidate in the August general elections.

The announcement comes hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta chaired Jubilee Party's Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting at State House

President Kenyatta stated that the party had been working after they were elected in 2017 adding that there was no time to engage in premature politics but the time had now come.

"If anyone asks you where Jubilee had been in the near past, just tell them we had gone to work to serve Kenyans," Kenyatta told the jubilee elected leaders and officials.

According to the statement issued by Jubilee on Friday evening, the party will now embark on a vigorous campaign that will ensure the party emerges majority at Council of Governors (CoG), National Assembly, and Senate.

The party also resolved to back a candidate with whom they share similar ideals.

President Kenyatta will also continue as the party leader of Jubilee.
