MP Kuria Kimani was welcomed to UDA by DP William Ruto at his official Karen residence

Molo MP Kuria Kimani has ditched Jubilee Party for Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA). 

In a statement on Twitter, the lawmaker announced his defection from the ruling party, noting that he will be seeking to defend his seat on a UDA ticket.  

Kuria was welcomed to UDA by DP Ruto at his official Karen residence. 

"I have served my Jubilee Party diligently. As I look forward to serve the people of Molo as their Member of Parliament for another term, I will be seeking this mandate through United Democratic Alliance (UDA)

"Received by William Ruto this morning," Kuria wrote in part.

This comes barely a week after UDA announced how much aspirants seeking to run for elective positions on a UDA ticket would pay. 

Through its social media platforms, the party announced that male aspirants intending to run for presidency will pay an application fee of KSh 1 million while female candidates and youth will pay KSh 500,000.

Male gubernatorial aspirants will pay KSh 500,000 while women and youth will pay KSh 250,000.

Male aspirants seeking to contest for parliamentary and senatorial positions will fork out KSh 250,000 for male candidates while women and the youth will cough out KSh 125,000. 

Aspiring Woman Representatives will pay KSh 250,000.

Aspirants seeking nomination certificates for the Member of County Assembly seat have been directed to pay KSh 50,000 and KSh 25,000 for male and female aspirants respectively.

Persons with disabilities will not pay any nomination fees for all the elective positions.
