Ford Kenya party led by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula is inviting men willing to vie for the Woman representative seats across the country.

According to the Notice, Men aspiring to vie for the seat of a woman representative will pay Sh100,000 while their women competitors will part with Sh50,000.

The party waived all fees for women and people with disability by 50 per cent.

"Interested candidates should send their applications not later than 30th of March 2022." the p[arty stated.

The invitation of men to vie for the seat might come as a surprise to many considering that the seat is assumed to be meant for women.


Parties such as ANC and UDA party in a notice indicated that they will be accepting female aspirants only for the seat.

The constitution, however, does not limit the seat to women only hence any gender can contest for it.

To qualify for the position of women’s representative, a person must also be at least 18 years of age. There is no maximum age requirement.

A university degree from a university recognised in Kenya is also a requirement in 2022 general elections according to Section 22 of the Elections Act (unless the law is amended before then).
