The National Police Service has arrested one person in connection to the slapping of a woman who shouted Azimio at a rally graced by Deputy President William Ruto in Kisii.
"The attention of the National Police Service is drawn to a disturbing and widely circulated video clip where a man is clearly seen assaulting a female during a political rally in Kisii," NPS said in a statement.
In the video footage, the DP is heard urging the residents to chant his political slogan and the woman instead shouted Azimio, a slogan affiliated with the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

It is after shouting that a man emerged and slapped her.
The NPS now says they have arrested one person who is in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
"Police in Kisii have acted on the incident and made an arrest of one male person namely Joash Atemba Nyagate a.k.a Sokoro. He is in police custody assisting with the investigation and will face court action once the investigation is completed," the statement added.
The Service went on to urged members of the public to exercise restraint and accommodate all teams as the country heads to 2022 polls.
This, it says, will help in maintaining peace and order.
"NPS wishes to advise the public to exercise restraint and accommodate divergence of opinion during the electioneering period to mitigate instances of lawlessness and breach of the peace," NPS added.
The video of the woman being slapped has gone viral on social media with Kenyans calling for the arrest of the woman.
