ODM party leader Raila Odinga's aide, Silas Jakakimba has dropped his bid for the Langata Parliamentary seat in the August 9 General Elections.

The city lawyer made the announcement through his Twitter page citing critical issues and assignment that he has been up to in the past several months.

Jakakimba, however, noted that he will support whoever will emerge the best candidate for the parliamentary seat.

"Due to emerging & critical issues, assignment in the past several months, I've had to skip on my earlier intention to stand for elective public office including the empty Lang'ata Parliamentary seat where I will offer all the support to whoever emerges as the Change Movement's candidate," Jakakimba said in part.

Despite dropping his bid, the lawyer noted that he will continue to play a critical role in Raila's secretariat in a bid to help him clinch the country's top seat.

"Even so, my desire to continue serving the People in the current and other capacities has never waned a bit. In that respect, I'll continue playing my role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat to ensure HE Raila Odinga clinches the much-awaited decisive and resounding win on RAOND1 by CoB August 9th, 2022," Jakakimba added.

Jakakimba becomes the second aspirant to drop from the race.

Three weeks ago, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Oburu Odinga's son, Jaoko Odinga dropped his interest in the parliamentary seat.

He thanked all his supporters who urged him to vie for the seat, noting that he will focus on campaigning for and helping his uncle, Raila to clinch the presidency on August 9, 2022.

“I appreciate all the encouragement for me to throw my hat into the ring for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat

"At this point, however, I’m focused on helping Baba (Raila Odinga) to become the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya,” he stated.
