Four people have lost their lives in a grisly road accident.

The four who perished are family members.

The accident occurred after a car they were travelling in collided with a trailer at Maili Tisa on the Kajiado-Namanga road.

Police have confirmed the incident which has also left one person injured.

Kajiado Central police boss Joseph Mutira said the four family members perished after their vehicle rammed a trailer.

"The incident involved a trailer with registration number T 896 SQ 732 and a Toyota V8 registration number KCJ 435 S. Both vehicles were heading to Kajiado," Mutira said as quoted by Citizen TV.

The deceased are aged between 24 and 27.

The deceased bodies have been moved to the Kajiado Referral Hospital mortuary.

The incident comes barely a month after five people died incident on the same route leaving three others injured.

The accident involved a Probox and a personal saloon car.

Other occupants of the Probox sustained serious injuries.

The saloon car was on its way to Namanga when its driver, alleged to be drunk, lost control and was hit by the Probox on the side.

The driver also died on the spot.

Reports indicated that the Probox car, which was heading to IIbisil, had several occupants and four of them succumbed to the accident on the spot.
