Wanga is contesting for the Homa Bay County gubernatorial seat in the August 9 General Elections.

Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has issued a statement after her campaign billboard that was erected in Oyugis was vandalized.

Wanga is contesting for the Homa Bay County gubernatorial seat in the August 9 General Elections.

Through her social media pages, the outspoken MP accused her competitors of pulling down the billboard having sensed defeat in the upcoming polls.

"Last night our billboard in Oyugis town was vandalized. We strongly condemn these acts of violence and hooliganism by our opponents who have sensed defeat and hence resorted to these cowardly acts

"We call upon law enforcement to move with speed and apprehend the culprits. Genowa is a movement of the people, by the people and for the people. We shall not be cowed or distracted. We soldier on," Wanga wrote on Facebook.

This came two days after Wanga launched her bid for the county's top seat in an event graced by a host of ODM leader Raila Odinga's allies including Royal Media Services (RMS) Chairman SK Macharia.

Wanga promised jobs, better education opportunities, improved healthcare and end of corruption, also noting that she will expand the agriculture sector in the county to ensure enough food for the people and more for export.

She pledged to continue with the infrastructure projects President Uhuru Kenyatta started in the region including roads, highways and the boating industry.

"I want to make Homa Bay part of the National grand coalition against corruption. My government will not tolerate corruption because it rips our people of the development that they should get," she said.
