NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua has sent out a message to other presidential contenders ahead of the much-anticipated August 9 General Elections.

Speaking at the National Delegates Congress, she noted that everybody is welcomed to NARC Kenya irrespective of their past political ideologies.

"A lesson I learnt from the Kibaki era - when people knock on your door, open. Do not only mind what a person was yesterday, we are human beings and we can change. Our doors are not closed to anybody who knocks," Karua said.

Karua stated that they are keen to work with parties that are committed to fighting graft, among other vices.

"We want to listen to the people who will tell us how they intend to protect resources. You can have all those wonderful ideas but if corruption is allowed to thrive, Kenyans will continue to suffer," she said.

Karua further urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to facilitate a smooth handover of power, warning against any perceived attempts at clinging on to power.

"Tumeskia watu wakisema, na ata Attorney General amekuwa quoted akisema kwamba hakuna kizuizi la kikatiba rais kuchukua kazi nyingine kama Prime Minister

"Niliwaambia kitambo, hiyo inaweza kuwa ni haramu, term limit ni kwamba wengine waweze kupata nafasi,” she said.

Karua is part of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

OKA brings together UDP's Cyrus Jirongo, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka and his KANU counterpart Gideon Moi.
