Raila Odinga said he was reluctant to contest in the forthcoming elections but he changed his mind later.

ODM leader Raila Odinga has reacted to President Uhuru Kenyatta's endorsement of his presidential bid ahead of the August 9 General Elections.

Speaking on Friday, February 25, the former Prime Minister said he was reluctant to contest in the forthcoming elections but he changed his mind later.

"Thank you for nominating me. I was initially reluctant to run but when I visited various parts of the country and asked Baba aendele au asiendelee the answer was the same; Baba aendelee," Raila said.

Raila also laughed off claims that had indicated that Uhuru would betray him ahead of elections, noting that they had had deep conversations on the direction that the country would take after his exit.

"People said Uhuru is cheating you and he will abandon you. I told them I know he will not. I was certain because we had deep conversations and we agreed that this country needs to be moved to where the ancestors want it to be," he said.

The ODM leader also disclosed that he is not the flagbearer of the Azimio La Umoja coalition in the General Elections noting that he was only endorsed as ODM presidential nominee, adding that Azimio La Umoja will unveil its flagbearer soon.

"I have been endorsed as ODM presidential nominee, Azimio Coalition will decide the flag bearer. We will come up with structures and I know we will be the winning team with majority," said Raila.
