Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has warned supervisors and invigilators across the country against carrying their mobile phones into examination rooms.

Speaking in Nyeri where he supervised the administration of the KCPE examinations, Magoha adviced all supervisors to leave their gadgets in offices before administering the exams.

The CS issued the directive after a number of teachers were caught circulating images of the exam papers minutes after the exams had started.

Magoha further directed all police officers manning examination centres to arrest any teacher that walks into an exam room with a mobile phone.

“Nobody must enter the examination room with a cellphone. including managers, everyone must leave their phones in the offices, “He said.

He warned the managers to ensure all civilians involved in the administration of the exams to leave their phones behind.

“Certain centre managers took images of the question paper about 39 minutes after the examination had started. This is not,” Prof Magoha said.

The CS noted that there are individuals out to disrupt the smooth administration of the national examinations.

Magoha assured parents and teachers of the safety of students during the examination period amid cases of insecurity in various parts of the country.
