An administration police officer attached to the Bomet Police Station is said to have stabbed his wife to death on Sunday night, March 13, 2022,  after they were involved in a heated argument in their apartment house in Bomet.

Confirming the incident, Bomet Central Sub-County police boss Musa Omar said that the wife was stabbed three times in the chest with a Masai sword and was found sprawled on the doorway indicating she had tried to escape.

The accused officer, 35, then turned the knife to himself. He was found lying unconscious on the floor with a knife in the stomach.

Neighbours who heard the commotion responded to the scene. They rescued the couple's 9-month-old baby who was crying while watching the parents fight.

The police boss said the officer was rushed to Tenwek hospital in critical condition while the body of his wife was removed to the Longisa county referral hospital mortuary.

"The two were living as a family. They have a 9-month-old baby, neighbours describe the couples as being friendly and they have been living peacefully," Omar added.
