Four detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are on the spot after they allegedly accepted a Ksh1 million bribe from a Chinese investor.

The officers were thus bribed to remain silent on the immigration violation.

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) nabbed three officers, while the main suspect managed to escape the dragnet.

The three were arraigned in court but failed to take a plea because the main suspect was not present.

Anti-Corruption Principal Magistrate Victor Wakumil directed the main suspect to appear before the court on Tuesday, March 22, to take a plea.

"I indulge the defence so as to put their house in order. Summons to issue against Julius Onyango Oguma. Plea-(taking) deferred to March 22, 2022, at 9 am," the magistrate ordered.

According to a report by the Nation, the main suspect managed to flee after the three others fired in the air.

The incident occurred at Kabete Police Station.

They are facing four counts of charges; aiding a prisoner escape, robbery with violence, soliciting a bribe, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
