The region has been under a series of attacks since last year with a number of police officers losing their lives in the process.

Last December on Christmas day, a police officer was shot in the area before his attackers torched manyattas and got away with an unknown number of livestock.

According to Samburu police commander Thomas Ngewa, another police officer was injured and the bandits exchanged fire with the police.

Last year, Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i said that the government had deployed more security officers in the region to curb the banditry attacks.
