The incident happened at yet to be identified area but video of the incident took place on a road in Nairobi along where the Nairobi Expressway is being constructed.

According to Sikika road safety, a traffic police officer identified by name as Mark Muriira was on his way to work in a public service vehicle when he came across a road accident.

He stopped by to check what was happened and try to solve the puzzle between the male motorist and a rider who had been knocked down, allegedly by the motorist.

It is then that a skirmish ensued and according to the video, the motorist is seen punching the police officer.

Boda boda riders who there intervened and tried to block him from further attacking the cop.

In the middle of the push and pull, police officers who were passing by intervened and took charge of the situation and arrested the culprit.

The police officer is said to have sustained an injury on the mouth and his tooth removed.

The attack comes at a time when physical assaults on Kenyan roads have drawn criticism from Kenyans.

Recently an assault on a female motorist on Forest Road led to a massive crackdown in the boda boda sector that saw several riders arrested.

Road users have been urged to maintain peace, law and order while plying various roads.
