The new Rift Valley police commander is Tom Odero. He had been serving at the National Counter Terrorism Centre and swapped positions with Fredrick Ochieng.

Former Nairobi police boss Augustine Nthumbi has been moved to police headquarters, the Vigilance House. He will serve as a Rliaison officer.

The acting police boss for Nairobi is James Mugera.

Regional commanders are the same as former Provincial commissioners, which was scrapped in the 2010 constitution.

The changes, the police boss said, seek to boost operations in the country.

The changes were announced on March 18.
