The changes come after the resignations of some CS who went to pursue political ambitions.

The resignation of some cabinet secretaries to pursue political ambitions meant that some ministries had vacancies that needed to be filled.

Being in a transition period and Just 6 months to the poll, President Uhuru Kenyatta did not see the need to appoint new officeholders.

Instead, the President appointed the existing Cabinet secretaries to also head the vacant ministry in an acting capacity.

Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa has been handed back the role of managing the Devolution ministry. He was in the devolution ministry before being taken to the defence ministry.

The devolution ministry CS post was left vacant following the resignation of Former CS Charles Keter. Keter is eyeing Kericho's governor seat.

Transport CS James Macharia has also been handed an extra role. Macharia will now head the Water and Sanitation Ministry, a post left vacant by former CS Sicily Kariuki.

Sicily is vying for the Nyandarua Governor seat.

Energy CS Monica Juma is now doubling up as the Petroleum and Mining CS. The docket was being held by CS John Munyes.

Munyes is vying for the Turkana Governor seat.

Industrialization and Trade CS Betty Maina will now also handle the East African Community and Regional Development docket that was previously held by Former CS Adan Mohamed. Mohamed is seeking to be Mandera governor.

The replacement of Cabinet Administrative Secretaries and PSs yet to be announced.
