“You kidnapped/abducted Nickson Sambach, a police officer on duty so that the said police officer may be subjected to danger or grievous harm,” the charge sheet read in part.

According to the police report, the officer was on patrol duty when he stopped the accused persons for the offence of obstruction along the road.

“Cosmas Kaai Kinyua and Wycliffe Nyangena Ogari had parked a motor vehicle registration number KCT 579Q on the middle of the road along Wood Vale Groove which is a public road thereby obstructing other road users.

“The officer boarded the motor vehicle and instructed him to drive the said vehicle to the Parklands Police station for the offence of causing an obstruction,” the report added.

The officer got into the vehicle and ordered the accused to drive to Parklands Police Station, instead, he sped off towards Thika Road.

The officer had pleaded with the driver to stop the car and let him out, but to no avail.

They would later dump the officer at the Githurai roundabout.
