A Nairobi court has today issued orders stopping the funeral of late Matungu MP Justus Murunga following a petition by an alleged lover.

In her ruling, Milimani Magistrate Agnes Makau ordered that the alleged lover identified as Agnes Wangui serve the late MPs two widows and the Lee Funeral home with the petition before the case is heard on November 26.

Wangui moved to court arguing that her two children were sired by the deceased and as such need to be recognized as members of the late MP’s family.

She wants the court to order for a DNA analysis in a bid to confirm the paternity of her two children.

Wangui also petitioned the court to order for preservation of the late MPs body until the DNA is conducted.

“We want the two wives to incorporate these children and their mother in the burial programs that the family has totally refused. The children have been living in poverty, struggling to make ends meet in terms of food, they cannot continue being excluded from seeing off their father," Wangui’s lawyer Danston Omari said.

Explaining the genesis of the alleged relationship, Wangui noted that she met the late Murunga in 2012 at Embakasi.

"I first met the deceased in 2012, when he was a supervisor at the Embakasi Ranching Company Limited, while I was a businesswoman engaged in selling of beverages and snacks within Sewage area, Ruai… He told me he was living in Utawala, Nairobi with his wife, Christabel. In 2016, he rented me a house in Ruai, where I lived with my son. The deceased used to pay our monthly [house] rent and child maintenance. Mostly, he would send me money via M-Pesa," Wangui stated in court papers.
