In the letter that had a signature and bearing the header of Kang’ata’s office, the senator is alleged to have warned Ruto's camp of shifting ground in Mt Kenya towards Raila Odinga's side.

Murang'a County Senator Irungu Kang'ata has rubbished a letter going around on social media allegedly from his office to Deputy President William Ruto.

Through his social media page, Kang'ta termed the controversial letter as fake, saying he remains on course to making DP William Ruto the next president.

In the letter that had a signature and bearing the header of Kang’ata’s office, the senator is alleged to have warned Ruto's camp of shifting ground in Mt Kenya towards Raila Odinga's side.

The letter also warned that the newly revamped Jubilee Party was gaining ground in the Mt Kenya region, adding that the recent entry of Musalia Mudavadi's ANC and Moses Wetangula's Ford Kenya into Ruto's camp was further complicating things among the already 'worried' Mt Kenya residents.

"Treat this letter as fake. Mt Kenya will solidly vote against project baba 90%" read Kangata's post.

Kang'ata is also alleged to have warned DP Ruto of the recent 'mass defections' from the UDA party, claiming aspirants were shifting camps because they feel they will be shortchanged by UDA in the oncoming nominations.

The Murang'a County Gubernatorial aspirant on a UDA ticket is also alleged to have threatened to consider his support for UDA, claiming lack of transparency, disrespect and public humiliation in the wheelbarrow party.

“Many things have changed. The ground has started a slow but sure shift. The Raila Odinga we believed was like pork in Mecca has started to find some footing in the Mountain. His message and his diplomatic mien have been slowly melting the hard hearts of our people.” read part of the alleged letter.

This comes just a year after Irungu's letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2021 warning him of non-receptive ground in the Mt Kenya region to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

In the letter that leaked causing a public uproar, the senator claimed that the BBI was bound to fail in the Mount Kenya region. He said his office had conducted a survey and established the initiative's unpopularity in the region, straining the chances of a referendum sailing through in the region.

It is a letter that marked the beginning of the soar relationship between Uhuru and Irungu and eventually forced him to dump Jubilee for Ruto's UDA party.
