Even though wiper now denies clearing Sonko for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat, the party submitted his name to IEBC as one of the aspirants.

The wiper party has now denied clearing former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to vie for the Mombasa Gubernatorial seat.

The Wiper Secretary-General Shakila Abdalla said that they had given Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo a direct ticket for the Mombasa Governor race.

Surprisingly, according to the list submitted to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, Sonko's name is among those submitted by the Wiper party for the seat.

According to the list, Sonko is expected to face off with Mbogo in the Wiper party primaries.

The former nairobi governor decamped from Jubilee to Wiper on March 22, 2022, where he was welcomed by the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
