Wainaina said the exercise wasn't free and fair in a number of polling stations in Kiambu

Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina Wa Jungle has announced he will be vying for Kiambu gubernatorial seat on an independent ticket come August 9, general elections.

This is after the MP disputed nomination results which announced Kimani Wamatangi as the winner and the UDA party's flagbearer come August polls.

According to Wainaina, the exercise wasn't free and fair in a number of polling stations adding that some of his agents were locked out of the counting exercise.

Speaking after the results were announced, Wainaina accused the UDA party of allegedly favoring the senator since he was close to some of the party's top leaders. He assured his supporters that he will be on the ballot during the next general elections.

"Nominations were not fair and transparent, they have succeeded in rigging me out but I want to assure my supporters that I will give them a way forward after two days. I will be on the ballot come August general elections" he stated.

At the same time, the MP cried foul over the alleged omission of his "Wa Jungle" nickname in the ballot papers, claiming this caused confusion among most of his supporters.

He promised to re-energize and intensify his campaign activities across the vast Kiambu county and secure victory in the August polls.

Wainaina, who was accompanied by a number of his supporters was speaking at the Kiambu Institute of Science Technology where the tallying process was being conducted.

This comes after Senator Wamatangi was announced the winner after bagging 10 out of the 12 sub-counties in Kiambu. He will now face off with former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo who will be running on the Tujibebe Party and Moses Kuria of Chama Cha Pesa.
