Murkomen was given the UDA party nomination ticket unopposed.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Governor Engineer Alex Tolgos has been issued with Jubilee party ticket to run for the county's senatorial bid.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen's fierce competitor was issued with the certificate on Thursday, April 21, by Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni at the party's headquarters in Pangani.

Earlier in the day, Jubilee's National Elections Board Chairman Stephen Wandeto had also issued similar nomination certificates to aspirants vying for various seats in Murang'a, Nyeri and Nyandarua under Jubilee Party.

Those who got their direct nomination certificates include SG Jeremiah Kioni (Ndaragwa MP), the party's Director for Elections Kanini Kega (Kieni), Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town) among many others.

Tolgos who is doing his second and final term as the county's governor will be banking on the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party boss Raila Odinga to overturn things in his favor in a region largely considered as Deputy President William Ruto and UDA's stronghold.

Recently, the Azimio la Umoja allied governor excluded the confidence in teaching Ruto's man Murkomen a lesson in the August general polls, saying his records as a governor will do him justice among electorates at the ballot.

He went on to warn DP William Ruto against coming to Murkomen's rescue, saying he will beat Murkomen hands down in a free and level field.

"I had decided to go for retirement after August but there is a young boy here called Murkomen who is playing around. I have already informed him that I will be on the ballot come August on a Jubilee party ticket. I promise him an epic battle and if Ruto tries to rescue him, it will be worse for him. I know Ruto will camp here to rescue him but I will take him home," stated Tolgos four days ago at a function in the county.

Murkomen was handed a UDA party ticket after a competitor he was to face off with at the nominations ditched the party and opted for an Independent ticket.
