Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who said spoke on behalf of the committee said a State Funeral will be held on Friday, April 29.

The late President Emilio Mwai Kibaki will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 30, the Funeral Committee in charge of the send-off has announced.

He will be buried at his home in Othaya, Nyeri County.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who spoke on behalf of the committee said a State Funeral will be held on Friday, April 29.

The funeral will have full military honours.

Matiang'i made the announcement flanked by senior government officials and close family members including Kibaki's son Jimmy Kibaki.

Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi who is a nephew to Kibaki was also present.

The body of the late will lie in State at parliament buildings for three days from Monday to Wednesday.

During the days, Kenyans will be allowed to go and view the body.

Also, Kenyans will be able to sign the condolences book of the late president from Monday afternoon.

The condolences book signing will happen in parliament and government ministries.

On Tuesday morning, the condolences book will be available at the interior ministry county headquarters and regional headquarters.

The burial of Kibaki will come a week after his death. President Uhuru Kenyatta announced Kibaki's death on Friday.

Kibaki passed on aged 90 years.
