Jimmy Kibaki was speaking at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday as he paid tribute to his father.

Jimmy Kibaki, the eldest son of the late former President Mwai Kibaki, has revealed his father's relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday as he paid tribute to his father, Jimmy said that Kibaki and Uhuru had a father-son relationship.

He said that the late former president was very fond of President Kenyatta.

"Those of us who understand the dynamics between Mwai Kibaki and you (Uhuru) know that Mzee was very fond of you. In fact, your (Uhuru) relationship was a relationship between a father and a son," Jimmy stated.

Jimmy maintained that while he watched the news on TV with his father, Kibaki could doze off while other politicians spoke, but listened to President Uhuru while he spoke.

"When the news came on, he would even start dosing when some politicians came on. He would even turn to me and say, Jimmy, you know this fellow has been speaking for 10 minutes and there's nothing he has told us and he would go back to dosing."

"But when you (Uhuru) came on the screen, he would sit upright and listen keenly. And after every function you were in, he would turn to me and say, good man," Jimmy stated.

In his tribute, Jimmy said that Kibaki dedicated his life to the service of the country. He thanked all the Kenyans who turned up to mourn the late President.
