A school bus belonging to (SDA) academy in Kabarnet, Baringo county was on Friday night swept away by heavy floods.

According to reports, the incident happened as the school bus was trying to cross the swollen Kakapul river in the Tiaty sub-county.

The bus which is currently stuck inside heavy mud in the river was reportedly ferrying passengers from Kabarnet town to the Koloa area before it got stuck in the mud midway. The bus was swept away by the raging floods hours later due to a heavy downpour upstream.

Fortunately, there was no one on board at the time of the incident as locals had already warned the passengers of the imminent danger.

From the photos shared from the scene, the bus is still covered inside the mud residue with a section of its window already broken.

The river has since become infamous in the area as many cars have been swept within the very section where the Barwessa - Kolowa road crosses.
