This comes after the reptile in February, attacked and killed the boy at Ralayo beach on the shores of Lake Victoria. The body of the boy was later recovered from the lake after more than 24 hours of searching by the local fishermen.

It was reported that the boy’s body was found intact save for a few bruises. Ever since the incident, fishermen at Ralayo Beach have been decrying the rampant cases of crocodile attacks in the region and had been pleading with the government to find a way of containing the situation.

On his part, MP Amollo had promised to petition the government through the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to secure all the 31 beaches in the Rarieda sub-county by fencing off the areas to avoid future similar occurrences.
