The poll by Tifa released on Wednesday revealed that Raila Odinga was the most preferred presidential candidate.

The Amani national Congress (ANC) has rubbished the poll results by the Trends & Insights for Africa (Tifa) which revealed that Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga was leading in the presidential race.

In a statement on Friday, May 20, the Musalia Mudavadi-led party stated that the poll results were cooked and fictitious.

“Far from the fictitious and cooked-up fact-finding, it is sheer practical truth that Dr. William Ruto will beat Hon. Raila Odinga hands down if the presidential elections were held Kenya today,” read part of the statement signed by the party secretary general Simon Kamau.

The party said that as a leading founder of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, it suspected that the poll results were released after the unveiling of the coalition’s running mate in a move to revive what it termed as ‘fast-sinking fortunes’ of the Azimio coalition.

“The fabricated opinion polls are a clear indication of a desperate move to revive the fast-sinking political fortunes of the Azimio coalition,” the statement further read.

ANC said that it had established that the research firm had allowed itself to be manipulated by Azimio operatives.

“It is quite unethical that this firm has abdicated its core responsibility of carrying out credible surveys and instead resorted to playing soiled political games,” ANC stated.

The party added that the poll result will not alter the fact that Deputy President William Ruto was the most preferred presidential candidate.
