The Wiper Democratic Movement has asked its leader Kalonzo Musyoka to shelve his presidential ambitions and engage the Azimio coalition party in talks.

At a press briefing on Monday, May 23, the party said that it was time it considered all the options that were available in Azimio.

The party said that its intention to join the coalition was to ensure that it was part of the next government.

Wiper stated that it positioned Kalonzo as a presidential candidate after he missed out on the Azimio running mate slot because they did not want to be tricked.

ODM leader Raila Odinga and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

However, the party said that the country is greater than the party, and it had decided that its leader engages in further discussions.

“Because we had already agreed to work under the Azimio One Kenya Alliance, maybe it is time that we exhaust all the options that were available under the alliance. Because there’s a dispute resolution mechanism under that alliance.

“So we are asking our party leader that we do reconsider the possibility of having further discussions on this coalition arrangement,” Wiper organizing secretary Robert Mbui stated.

The party stated that one of the reasons it was disappointed and submitted Kalonzo’s name to IEBC for the presidency was because there were no structured discussions.

The statement came even as the former Vice President left the country for London on a private visit. At a meeting of presidential candidates on Monday, Kalonzo was represented by his running mate Andrew Sunkuli.
