The woman demanded a monthly stipend of Sh448,450 from Sonko for the upkeep of the child.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been plunged into fresh trouble after a woman moved to court to sue him over child support.

In court papers seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the woman alleged that the ex-county boss was not taking care of her 15-year-old daughter, whom she claimed to have been fathered by Sonko in 2007.

She stated in court papers that she had been willing to have a DNA test to prove who was the father of the child, and the former county boss was aware.

“I have always been willing to have a DNA test done to prove the paternity of the minor, a fact which Sonko is well aware of as we have discussed the same on several occasions,” the woman stated in the court papers.

She demanded a monthly stipend of Sh448,450 from Sonko for the upkeep of the child. She further demanded that Sonko pay Sh86,000 for the kid’s school fees and a further Sh30,450 for other school-related expenses.

According to the woman’s lawyer, Dan Okemwa, the girl was a Form Two student and had not reported back to school for her first term since schools reopened on April 26.

The woman claims to have met Sonko in 1999 before he sired the child with her in 2007. She added that Sonko did not want anything to do with the child despite knowuing that he was the biological father of the child.

The matter will be mentioned on Thursday, May 26.
