Machakos Governor Kivutha Kibwana has stated that the Wiper Party led by Kalozno Musyoka has decided to join the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.

In an update on Wednesday, May 25, Kibwana stated that since the party had decided to rejoin, dialogue must include those who have been selling Azimio in the Ukambani region.

"Finally, Wiper has decided to join Azimio where Kamba Nation is domiciled about 2 months to elections. Dialogue with Azimio's leadership must involve those of us who have been selling Azimio in the region; those who did the heavy lifting, and Wiper. Fairness/decency are virtues," Kibwana stated.

The wiper party recently told Kalonzo to go back to Azimio la Umoja with majority members voting in favor of working with the coalition.

Kalonzo bolted out of the coalition after Odinga picked Martha Karua as his running mater.

In a meeting called to chart a way forward for the Ukambani region in national politics, the party aspirants overwhelmingly voted 45 against five in favour of Wiper remaining in Azimio.

“Because we had already agreed to work under the Azimio One Kenya Alliance, maybe it is time that we exhaust all the options that were available under the alliance. Because there’s a dispute resolution mechanism under that alliance.

“So we are asking our party leader that we do reconsider the possibility of having further discussions on this coalition arrangement,” Wiper organizing secretary Robert Mbui stated.

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe recently said that Kalonzo Musyoka was still in Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance despite the Wiper leader bolting out of the coalition.

"Kalonzo is still in Azimio because that agreement says you cannot get out of it six months before the election or three months after the election. The reason for that is because in the event of a run-off you cannot then pledge your allegiance to the other formation," Murathe stated.
