The governor's presidential bid was rejected by IEBC on Monday.

Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria on Tuesday, May 31, continued with his attacks on the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after he was blocked from vying for the presidency.

Speaking to the press, Wa Iria said that the Bomas of Kenya, where IEBC was clearing aspirants for the upcoming polls, was a scene of crime.

The county boss stated that the commission had stated that it was doing validation of signatures and yet it had no register to validate the signatures against.

“Bomas is a scene of crime. Everybody knows. Because they (IEBC) are telling people that they are doing validation of signatures and they don’t have a register of signatures to validate against,” he stated.

The governor on Tuesday morning camped at the IEBC headquarters to seek audience from IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati after his presidential papers were rejected.

“For the second straight day, together with my Presidential Running Mate Alfayo Onyambu, we are at the IEBC offices, Anniversary Towers seeking audience with the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati,” the governor tweeted.

The governor caused a scene on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya after he blocked the gates to the arena, saying he wouldn't leave until Chebukati talked to him.

According to Chebukati, the governor’s presidential bid was rejected because he did not meet the requirements.
