President Kenyatta further exuded confidence that his administration had laid a firm foundation for the next government after he retires in August.

“I am confident that we have laid a firm foundation for those who shall come after us to continue and build a bigger, brighter, and more prosperous Kenya than from where we have left off. Mine is to thank you for the work and may God bless you and God bless Kenya,” he added.

The Head of State will preside over the Madaraka Day celebrations at the Uhuru gardens, with the event being different from the previous ones.

There was a heavy presence of the military at the venue as they bid their commander-in-chief goodbye.
